Have had a slight "sanitation odor" in the forward cabin since we got the boat. It got worse after I removed the washer door and trim to install the new units. In fact that compartment was the worst. Turned out the vent hose that runs there for the larger centerline tank was automotive radiator style hose, AND it had a low spot in it. It did appear to be open but the low spot had to have caused the occasional "pressure head". Now replaced with a nice sanitation hose with no trap in it..... Better already, hope it takes care of it all the way.

Update: Two hours later it is almost GONE. I have a 99% odor free Hatteras now!

Wow. Fantastic. I’m going to take a look at line now. I don’t have a smell most of the time, but after the boats been shut up for a week in the heat there is a slight odor. Thanks Oscar!

Is that a factory hose run?

Best way to stay ahead of that is flushing some Aqua Chem, or equivalent. Hoses are coated from inside out.

Speaking of head odors... I have the Raritan/Galley Maid original style-you know, the ones that sound like C-47's taking off. They have the tanks for the liquid but the hose connections at the toilet have been temporarily pugged. I can get them functioning again but can't seem to find any real opinion on their usefulness at eliminating odors. If you use these, what is your experience/how do you fill them, etc. Just wondering if they are worth resurrecting.

You mean the hose routing? I don't know, probably not as there is no evidence of fasteners along this path. The rubber hose that was there was not original, nor were the screw to the wall zip ties holding it on. Original vent hoses look more like vacuum cleaner hose (the spiraled outside) and there is a remnant of it which has a fastener in an inaccessible location so they cut as much of it off as they could. So whether they replaced it in the original location I don't know, but probably. Down below there are some over/under scenarios with a 2x4 floor support, multiple hoses (all replaced at some point) and the AC line set. All I know there was a trap in the line and it was rubber. Now it's sanitary hose without a trap.

There's not a lot of it on my boat, but there's always some.

If you want a bit more, I have some left.

Hey, this coming weekend I'm finally removing the WalMart bought instant heater wired with that yellow stuff you use in a house. You can have it if you want!
As a bonus, I can throw in all the charred 12v LED lighting plugged into 32v in the ER. Not knowing when they might burst into flame adds excitement, but I ordered proper replacements anyway.

Oscar when you say centerline tank are you referring to the forward tank in the forward cabin? I also gat a nice whiff of stink from mine. I had a look and there’s new hose and old hose, the old hose looks like some 2” black hose that appears original and needs to be replaced as it’s dry rotted. I think it goes to the pump out. My hoses from the toilet to the tank all appear to be newer.
im starting to have some pump out issues so I might need to do the dipstick while I’m there.

That's the one. Fortunately the hoses from heads to tank (forward and rear), the pickup and the pump out hose are all recent. In addition there is a tank sensor (green/yellow/red) built in. It does take the occasional removal to get the schmutz off the floats. It's all in pretty good shape except for the vent hose, which, for reasons I can't fathom was unsat in every way. I know the PO was a stickler for all this stuff and kept everything in pretty good shape.....

The pump out hose will be somewhat challenging to snake. I haven't had to do it (yet) but I am fully prepared to add access panels in the back of the storage bins alongside the stairs to make access to the deck fittings easier.
