yeasterday, I pushed the start button on the generator. when I released the switch the starter stayed ingauged. I had to turn off the main battery rotary switch to kill the starter. I checked the wire terminals at the starter and all looked and felt good. I opened up the electronic box and I see the start switch and two solenoids. Whats broken?

Mine will do the same thing if I do not leave the glow plugs on long enough.

It can be a simple issue of your switch being stuck. That remote start switch is spring loaded and if it doesn't go back down far enough, it's still in contact. The same is true for the genny panel start switch, if it fails, it can fail in the closed positin, running the starter. Another alternative is a short in the start switch wires.

The old MDJF does not have a system to leave the starter running if the preheat was not used.

Thanks Doug! Infact it was the start switch on the panel next to the lower helm. $6.00 dollar switch fixed it all.

Thanks!
