  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
41' CONVERTBLE-Series II (1986 - 1991)
I bought my 1987 41c about a year ago. This genny has 1660 hrs on it. The last time I ran her about 8 hrs straight and went to shut it down and it didn't want to shut down. It began to power down and then ran normally. It took a few attempts and what seemd to be about two minutes to get it to power down. Now it will not start or turnover. Up to this point has run like a top no issues.

Anyone have any ideas or have experienced the same thing. There is alo some water in the sound shield pan. Also looking for a copy of the manual.

Model is a MDKD

I would suspect the start/stop relay in the box..they are numbered and can be sourced via the manual, fairly standard relay, bosch I think..

I'd check the start stop switch and local wires first and if that's ok, check the solenoid in the control box and the other end of the same wires connected there.

I will contact Onan and see if I can find a manual..Thanks

Does it have a start/stop on the generator as well as a remote? Most do. Have you tried both? That would settle the question about the switch and wiring to the remote.

Doug, it has a start/stop and a preheat switch on the generator panel with a red on/off switch on the generator control panel. In the electrical panel there is a preheat and start/ stop switch.

You can get a manual off the Internet. Just down load it.
