Ona part supply

Does anyone have a source for the older Onan Genset parts? Our local Onan dealer says he can not find our point set for our tune-up. The genset is an Onan 6.5 MCCK, gas, in a 1972 38' convertable.

I believe the part # is 160-0002 Point Set - Early Style.

Cummins bought out Onan several years ago (5-6?) and initially service was in the tank...from Cummins that is. Hear has improved, but worse to worse could contact Cummins.

Call Jack of Parts. He is a Hatteras Dealer near Toledo,Ohio. Toledo Beach Marine. He was able to get any part I needed for a 1973 Onan.As long as you have the model mumber. Commins couldn't do it. All it cost is a phone call. Call Jack 1 734 243 3800. Good Luck .Bill

where are you located?

stuart fl has a good dealer that seems to be able to find parts for my 4.0 mcck.

Go to Onan.com and look up dealers in your area or outside of your area. also try e bay.

You can also take your points set to Napa autoparts and they can usualy match them up with an instock item.

I have had contact with Bill Porter from Don Hill Marine.
Plus, believe it or not, Sears carries many of these parts. The Onan tech told me that the early Sears tractors used Onan power plants. So I went into Sears.com added the part # and there it was...
After having the tech go over the unit all it needs is to have its carb cleaned out.
