  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' TRIPLE CABIN (1970 - 1976)
just can't wait to get on the road again... sorry, and I don't even like country music.

Me and the boy are flying out to visit my dad in Winter Haven tomorrow and will be spending a few days which will include trips to the coast(s). Just checking to see who's doing what, where, and when.

In addition, I'm driving to the coast of NC late next week to see if I can find the Dolphin I lost last time I went fishing with Boss Lady. With that in mind, maybe some of you Carolina boys can tell me and Chris where to find some fish around Sneads Ferry.

As always, I have the option of driving my truck if anybody along I-40 needs a gun safe. Seems like all those Alabama and Mississippi boys already had one last time I made that offer. :D

Thanks for the warning. I will keep my eyes open as I drive.

That'll be a first.

If you have to detour thru Ct let me know and I'll take that Canon we discussed.

Just got back from NC and an uneventful day of fishing yesterday with Chris aka Boss Lady. Good thing nobody needed a safe on that trip as I got home from Florida last Thursday only to find some lowlife had stolen my Featherlite aluminum trailer I use for deliveries.

Turns out there was a big fishing tournament out of Morehead while we were down, and we overheard a VHF conversation with what turned out to be the winning boat with a 400+ LB Marlin. The boat, a 50' Hatt, apparently had fuel/engine problems and was talking to SeaTow while he was some 40 miles offshore.

The officials with the tournament were announcing the winners on the VHF when this guy broke in and told them he had a big fish, but he was afraid he wouldn't make the weigh in which ended at 6PM. He obviously got the problem fixed with his engines or he would never have made it in time. He pocketed around $750K as a result. Funny how none of this was mentioned on the news coverage, but there was no doubt it was the same boat we overheard on the radio.

Oh yeah, Chris and I got skunked, but we had a good time. Thanks for everything Bubba, it's always good spending time with you and Miss Joy. It was also good to see Scott aka boatsb and the infamous Wild Bill while I was in Florida. Bob gave me a tour of the 60C he's captaining, and needless to say, it's a very nice boat.

I passed by Sparky's home town yesterday while going from N.C. to Nashville..
Even texted messaged the boy... he did say he caught a 5lb buzz.
Then a few miles down I-40 I passed Frozen Head State Park.... What the heck is that????

You passed the sign for Frozen Head which is about 25 miles or so away from 40 and exit 347. You ate at Shoney's, didn't you? :D

Hey, a promise is a promise. Besides, I only have these problems when I fish with somebody named Chris.

Uh oh.

Just to keep things straight, I searched for info on, Sea Creature, the boat that landed the marlin and won the tournament, and it was not a 50 Hatt. There is absolutely no doubt this guy who hailed Sea Tow told them it was a 50 Hatteras, so this whole thing is just downright strange.

I swear Chris and I only had two beers between us.

Randy, I am terribly sorry to hear that! Featherlite makes the best trailers and I know you must be very sad to lose yours. They are pricey, therefore hard to replace vs. a "regular" trailer but the strength-to-weight ratio is second to none. Having a featherlite often it makes it possible to haul a heavy load with a nice 1/2-ton truck vs. a rougher-riding 3/4-ton truck and a heavier trailer with the same load.

I hope you filed a Police report immediately and they find the theiving punks and your trailer very soon!

Yep, there's no way I'll be able to come up with a used trailer to replace mine, so it will be interesting to see how State Farm values this thing. It's gone up about $2,500 since I bought mine 3 years ago. You're right about it enabling me to use a lighter truck, and that thing pulled like a dream. One way or the other, I'll have another Featherlite next week.

I filed a police report having called them the minute I pulled into my parking lot last Thursday morning. The head investigator (a friend and customer) just left my office a few minutes ago, and they're tracking down several leads. I have a real bad feeling I know who was involved, but I hope it doesn't work out that way.

After driving by "Frozen head national park"..... Randy finally replied to my text message and said..........."THE ONLY THING I CAUGHT WAS A 5 LB BUZZ".....

And I saved the message in case he wants to argue the fact......

Did you give the troopers an accurate deescription? ws

Seriously, that really blows!
Yeah, it really does. It's one thing to steal, but it's another to steal something a man makes his living with. Reminds me of when I had an electric stair-climbing dolly stolen while I was doing a big gun show in Atlanta several years ago. It was off my truck and on the loading dock there for a maximum of 5 minutes, but that was long enough. Hell of it was, only dealers had access to that area.

The insurance paid off on that one with no depreciation, but I looked at it as God's way of telling me I didn't need to be carrying 700+ lb safes up and down stairs anymore. With that in mind, I just pocketed the money and got out of the stair climbing business.

As for that video, my trailer wasn't some home-made POS. It was a genuine store-bought unit with some special options I added my own self. Here's the photo I gave the cops.

Hell, go weigh two beers and you'll see they weigh 5lbs. :D

That video kind of makes you wonder what some folks have for brains. First they litter the woods with all sorts of broken debris, then they set a large fire in the woods? Can anybody spell jerk?

Yet another update. My buddy who is the lead investigator with the local police dept. just dropped by my office and told me they had my trailer... at least they had the guy who stole it. Seems he got himself caught on video stealing something else, and when he was arrested for that, he confessed to having stolen my trailer.

He also gave up the name of the guy he sold it to, and that guy is en route to the station as we speak. I suppose the only concern now is that he already sold the trailer to a third crook who's gone God knows where with it. Sam doesn't seem to think that's the case, so we'll see.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Hatteras topics.

Love that YouTube.... Am guessing that was Barney driving the truck as it does have a red light on top...
Good bet it took place around some place called Tellico Bay, Tenn.... Am sure I saw a safe in the back of the truck
