Lilly Marie's DD 671ti's delivered about 1.7 nm per gallon over 160 nm running on our family trip last week. That calculation is after deducting an estimated generator fuel burn assuming .6 gph. Fuel use was measured using the Tank Tender. Except for no wake zones and one run up to 16kts, we traveled around 8.3 kts running about 1100 rpm. We had just painted the bottom and running gear.

Seems like pretty good performance for 70 years old engine technology pushing a heavy 43 ft boat.

Vincent,

That's about what we get under similar conditions with the same engines in our 43 DC. My only problem is the engines get oil sloppy at those low RPMs unless they're run up to the 1600 RPM+ range every hour or so. I wish they were 67-1N's so I'd not have to do that.

On the other hand, these engines last forever if run 1800 RPM or less and we can put a lot of fuel into the tank for the cost of a repower.

Will
