  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
What with covid and back surgery haven’t used the aft tank on my 53 for 6 years
I pumped some from the bottom of the tank
There was no gunge or water but it seemed slightly cloudy Let it settle and still no water
I have been advised to add some cetol booster and run it in port to see what happens
Any advice would be appreciated

If it was me I would have it polished, not worth the possible issues without cleaning it.

In the trucking business, we once found a tank we didn't know we had. We burned the 20 year old diesel in the trucks without issue.

We also bought a 43DC with algae in the fuel. We ran that with frequent filter changes and got it all cleared up in the first season. You can pay for polishing, but you don't know that you need it. You just know the age of the fuel. Cetane booster and run it. A DD is one big fuel polisher. It returns a bunch of fuel.

Thank you Sky I presume all cetain boosters are the same

I run PowerService Diesel Kleen because its the easiest to source. Tractor Supply and Walmart or any truck stop will have it.

I run the diesel kleen also.
