Hello all, i have a Grocco gpb-1 oil change pump. I went to change the oil over the weekend and its not pulling. Its a gear driven pump that is self priming, has anyone else had this problem, should I try priming it? Thank You!

Are there valves that need to be open?

Gear pumps do not pump air well at all.
A lil priming oil will always help.

Try filling the pump chamber with oil, if you can. Usually that will prime the system and work. Also, like Ralph said, are the valves open and did you remove the engine dipstick? It's easier for it to pump oil out of the pan if it doesn't have to pull against a vacuum in the sump.

Yes the valve was open. I will pull the dipstick and try to prime the pump and see what happens.

Similar situation.
I left pump running, burned up my impeller.
Didn’t notice until next oil change.
Easy fix if you’ve got a spare hand.

Many of those pumps are reversible. Is the switch in the proper position so that it isn't pumping backwards?
