oil change on perkins 40 kw generator

Anyone, Just got back from Puerto Rico. I have a home there with a 40 KW generator ( perkins diesel). The sales company says I should change oil every 200 hours. Their mechanic says every 150 hours the service manual says every 500 hours. (On my boat it changed every 100 hours.) The unit uses W15-40 oil. I put in synthetic W15-40. when I just changed. Since we will be using the generator a lot till power is restored. Wondered what you guys thought? I believed earlier I read that some of you just change the filter between oil changes. Thanks

I would use the manual. The Gen in my boat gets an oil change at 250 hours, current hours 14,300. Manual suggests 250 hours.
