Could I please get a rough estimate on the oil capacity for my 6-71s and the capital gears. Have to purchase oil for the winter change?
Thanks Hal.

My 6-71ti take 5 gallons. The capital gears should be about a gallon. Suggest you drain tranny to a 1 gallon bucket and measure just to make sure. Use straight 40 wt CF-2 oil.

Hal,

I buy three 5 gallon pails of oil for the 671TIs engines and capitol transmissions. The engines take approximately 22 quarts to get to the middle of the full/add marks on the dipstick. I do as Passages suggested above and empty the transmission oil into a container, measure it, and refill with the same quantity. I think each transmission takes about 7 quarts. probably some of the oil in the hoses and gear cooler does not drain.

Have fun winterizing!

Nick
