  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' MOTOR YACHT-Series II (1985 - 1987)
About 7 months ago I purchased a 43C and had it document activated again. I have not crawled into every hole looking for the O/N but I would like to find it.
Any ideas on where the O/N is located?

I never found the permanent documentation number on mine. I added it in the engine room.

I found mine in the Anchor Locker. 1976 Convertible 42 feet.

On my 1970 53 it is in the anchor locker.

55C in anchor locker looking out from the inside. Also on stringer in engine room in big letters

It could be anywhere. There's no official rule and gawd knows if Hatteras had a standard.

Mine is on a shelf in the head. Looks like it was done by a six year old with a magic marker.

Mines in the port engine room but I’ve also found it on some draws in the master

In the starboard engine room of my '77 53 MY.

That info should also be on the survey.

You should also have a hull number on the starboard side of the transom. I believe it's at the top of the transom. That should be searchable.

And if it was documented before you may find it with the hull number, name, etc

You guys know he's talking about the USCG documentation number and not the hull number, right?

you can search past documented boats by hull number or name and find the boats o. doc number.

Sometimes the owner never put the doc number in the boat even though it is required. They may have bought the kit to "permanently affix" the number (the one with the number and some resin) and never gotten around to it.

My boat was documented when I bought her and there was no sign of any number on the boat and I've been inside of every hatch and compartment over the last 17 years.

I dropped the document when I bought her so no need for a number anyway.
