Hatteras Model
43' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1978 - 1983)
My NL753 genny is only putting out approximately 120 volts instead of 240. The boat splits the voltage with 120 for the Cruiseaire systems and 120 for the rest of the house circuits.

The genny puts 120 to the A/C side and nothing to the house. When I turn on the A/C, it drops to 70 volts or so. For troubleshooting voltage problems, the manual just says "check the AVR", but not how to do that. I understand that can be done by running a jumper across 2 posts on the unit, but I don't know which 2. Anybody have a recommendation?

Is that a proprietary voltage regulation board? Is there a part number on it. Some of those are just off the shelf items. I've replaced a couple of them before on gensets that were not Onan and they were cheap; less than $50

$610 from NL. 400 on eBay. If it's not the AVR, then the generator end needs to come off for repair or rebuild and the motor has 4500 hours on it and smokes, so I'm probably looking at a new unit. $$$
