  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' MOTOR YACHT (1993 - 1996)
Replaced the 20KW Onan with a new Northern Lights 20KW (outstanding upgrade for the Bahamas on the hook!). Was getting ready to do some routine maintenance and can't find any zinc/anodes on the unit. I went through the Owners Manual, Maintenance Manual, Spare Parts Manual and could not find any reference to Zinc/Anode replacements. Is it possible there are no Zincs/Anodes to replace or have a missed something? Hoping others who have a newer Northern Lights GenSet might weigh in on the matter. Thanks!

I belive they do not use zincs. I have two 17 Kw in my boat and never have found or change one.

No zincs on Northern Lights gen-sets.

I have a 20kw northern light and I don’t think they have zincs. Next time down I will look closely again.

Same approach as with MAN engines. With no internal zincs you have to connect to your bonding system.

I used to run a boat with a pair of NL20. I don’t recall any zincs. Great generators

I have a smaller nl Genny - 9kw I think. It has a zinc, but it's on the coolant side of the heat exchanger. Makes no sense to me. It had been there quite a while and showed no wear. I didn't bother to replace it.

Appreciate everyone's feedback and sanity check....and yes, NL make a great GenSet. We have been very pleased with its performance and reliability.
