We are currently in Annapolis, heading towards Maine. However, we plan on visiting NYC to visit our daughter the week after next. Given that we have a week to burn, can anyone make a few cruising suggestion around the upper Chesapeake (first time in area)?

Visit St Michaels, it's a cool destination and not far from Annapolis. You might also think about going up to Baltimore as well.

Both are on our list. Do you have a Marina recommendation for Baltimore? There seems to be a couple of good options, is one neighborhood preferable? My wife really likes her early morning walks, any personal
crime concerns in Baltimore?

When we were in the area last season, 2 local guys that were both policemen from Baltimore strongly suggested that we do not go there due to the recent increases in crime that have moved even into the waterfront areas. It’s too bad because the city has spent a lot of money on the harbor area. Maybe that was bad advice but they both felt strongly about the crime problems. I also 2nd St Michaels, maybe Oxford and Cambridge also.

If you're going to Baltimore... personally, I think I'd go to Oxford insterad. Cambridge is a bit of a haul. Rock Hall is also nice, but there's not much to do, there. Do you anchor out, uch? If so, the Wye River area is worth visiting.

Never been there by boat but have been many weekends traveling for work as a break at Kent Island. Been a few years but great spot with many marinas. $ but do the blue crab. Get cheap beer when the crab comes out because it gets warm and flat when you’re busy with the crabs. Before and after go for beverage of choice.

St Michaels is our favorite destination. We prefer the Harbour Inn Marina. Lots of space in the outer area of the harbor if you anchor, and an active water taxi.

Oxford MD is is very nice.
