Hatteras Model
50' YACHT FISHERMAN (1964 - 1968)
My wife and I are taking our 1966 50' yacht fisherman to Alaska leaving in the next couple of days. We have spent the last couple of years getting ready for this adventure and waiting for retirement to set us free. If any would like to track our progress you can check out our blog http://hattladyj.wordpress.com/ and please remember that most of what we write is for non-boaters so to you guys it might sound kind of lame... We plan on being gone for at least two years. The first step is up the west coast from San Francisco Puget Sound where we will winter and then head north through the inland passage to Alaska in May. I'm not sure when we will return - that is the beauty of being retired!

WOW! I can't wait to live this vicariously. I hope you have a great trip. Actually, having cruised the inside passage I don't need to hope... you will have a great time! Just be careful around the glaciers. Before we left the ship had to have some prop blades replaced because they hit something on the previous run. You know how big the blades are on something like that?.. looked like torn paper.

Have a great trip north. Did the run south from Vancouver a few years back at about the same time of year in our 53MY. It was a wet bumpy ride, to say the least. It's good to see you have the dual raycors on each engine, hope you don't need them like we did. I look forward to tracking your progress. Best of luck. Mike

We plan to do the same trip from San Diego in a few years (when retirement sets us free as well). Took our first cruise to Alaska through the inside passage in 2006, and again in July of this year. We swore the first time we cruised the coast we'd do it in our own Hatt some day. We'll be watching the blog closely for tips and recommendations.

I am planning to to Norway and Sweden this time. I wish the trip would be great fun, excitement, and thrilling. Heard the place is so good at its educational system. Need to inquire on that.
