NMEA2000 Tee Connector Question

I'm installing a new Furuno system with a Micro backbone in my boat. I'm not experienced, but from research understand that I need a terminator at each end of the network. My question is this - I already have a couple 4 drop tees that I can put together. I need more than 4, but probably not all 8. Can I leave a drop empty or does it also require a terminator in addition to the ones already at each end of the backbone?

You can leave a drop open without any issues. No additional terminators are used.

Actually, you *must* leave the drop empty since a third terminator will mess things up.
