Niad Stabalizer Noise

Hello All

I recently purchased a 1985 61' MY with Niad stabilizers I noticed a noise when the system is on kind of an AAAH when the fins move. The other day I had the opourtunity to put the boat in a beam sea while stopped and go down and look at the actuators. There is a noise and a slight vibration coming from the valves near the actuators it sounds like it could be just the sound of the check valves chatering. It is more evident when the fins move slowly. It's loud enough that it can be detected in the boat but only at low RPM. Does anyone know if this is normal?

I do not hear this when my Naiads are on. With the engines rrunning, there is no noise loud enough to be heard.

With the engines off but the power turned on to the Naiads they make a buzzing or singing sound as the valves run trying to move the fins with no hydraulic power available. Naiad says this sound is normal.

My Naiads make zero noise. Could you be low on oil? Does the cannister show in the normal range and is the filter change indicator on? If those things are all okay, I'd then call Naiad. Their tech people are very good and will walk you through the troubleshooting.

All the simple stuff has been checked the filter is fine oil is full and clean no signs of air in the system and it works fine.

I'd call Craig Caulkins at Stabilized Marine there in Florida (954-797-7330). He's an authorized Naiad repair and installer and a genius on this stuff. He installed them on my 53MY and knows the boat inside and out. He can answer your question on the phone and if you need service, he's the guy to go to.
