new years in Ft. Lauderdale (what to do???)

My new girlfriend and I are going to Ft. Lauderdale on friday till Monday. We just wanted to get out of town (Biloxi MS), dont really have any plans. Anyone have any ideas? some type of boat tour/ride would be nice, half day at a spa would get me some cool points . Also we need a good place to go for the new years party,and coktail hour(s). If any of you guys from down there can help it would be appreciated. PS the more romantic/fun the better!!! Thanks Tobb

We(the bertram 31 guys and I) normally stay at the dump hotel on the water. It's called the Ocean View. Right next to it is the Casa Blanca, good food, good drinks, good fun, and the place I earned my moniker of Thudddddd.

We did a pub crawl of sorts about the water bus; cheap, fun, and if you get a good crew, just like a guided tour of FTL. We stayed in Hollywood at the Marriott [$$$$].

just so happens I'm in the S.E. Florida area for new years too.
Water-taxi is a great idea, but I'm in the Boynton area ... I'll have to journey a little south.

I always stay at Pier 66 (Hyatt) and use the water taxi. The Hyatt has a couple of good restaurants, the revolving one on top is a nice view and fun. They also have a nice spa and pool. You can stay in 'the tower' or save a few bucks and stay marina-side, the lower buildings around the pool. Lots of nice boats and the little saloon at the end of the boat dock is a nice atmosphere.
