I have 3 different toilets on board and I think they are close to, if not original. They are electric, feed into electrasan system and have valve to go into holding tank or overboard. If I didn't want to go through the expense and hassle of changing the whole system to something like a vacuflush, and just wanted to install new toilets that were quiet when flushed, efficient, didn't get that awful smell after being left for a day, and worked with my existing system, does anyone have a recommendation as to what they would choose by way of an update? Is it worth it (meaning is the technology today truly superior)?

My heads got that awful smell after a day too, then I figured out you have to flush them after use. :D

Fresh water heads will not smell. However if you still wish to use the electrasan you'll need to add salt. I run sea eras and i'm very happy with them. I even run one on salt water on the dive boat, but yes it smells as the critters rot when you let it sit for a while. Bill

We put some tank deodorizor in the bowl when we leave for the week and that keeps the smell down. We started using the little toilet pucks on a plastic hanger(Wal Mart) and that really helps too.
