Has anyone ever experienced having your brand new back up spin-on filters, still in their factory plastic, purposely stored in oversized ziplock bags begin to rust out ?

Annoying and expensive ! Also, and worst of all, while you may think you have back-ups for whatever contingency that comes your way.......maybe not so much.

The filters that rusted were in the factory plastic and also inside ziplock bags stored in the salon to galley stairs. Maybe they had problems from the factory but I dont think so. Maybe the hot / cold cycles and being near the ER makes a difference ? Again I dont think so. Anyone with a similar problem or better yet a solution ? Thank you.

That's bizarre..... so much for the seal eh?

I ran into that once but the bag had a leak... and yeah, it was annoying.

Vapor phase inhibitors do a great job of preventing corrosion of stored metal parts. They come in a variety of products (bags, sheets, packets, etc) from several manufacturers. The link below is for just one. Google vapor phase inhibitors and you'll get plenty more.

If the minimum quantity is too large, maybe we can get Sam's to stock some.

open, coat with wd-40, vacuum bag (one of those food vacuum baggers)...if u don't like wd-40, just vacuum bag it.

Thanks for the ideas. Worth their weight in..........FILTERS !! Ha Ha, (Meant in a good way, those filters get expensive !)

zip lock makes a good one but you have to buy the little pump, not expensive and portable
