  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' LRC (1975 - 1981)
Yeah, I know its November 1st, but it's time for a personal resolution:

Dear self,

The Facts:
1. I'm an internet junky and I have a problem
2. I can't find enough time in the day to read every thread on 20+ forums
3. The political ones drive up my blood pressure
4. I have yet to convert anyone away from their political views to mine
5. I'd much rather be learning more about boats, cruising, fishing, electronics, guns, knives and flashlights.
6. Hard as I've tried, I can find more than 24 hours in a day...

Resolution:
1. No more politics for me....
2. No more political or socioeconomic discussions
3. Stay focused on the things I love and avoid the ones I hate!

Signed,
Self

I'm with ya on that Jeff. I'm sick of listening to the news with all the politics. Is that all they ever talk about? Surely there's more news in the world than the Obama train. I'm still sorta new to big boats, so I need to learn all I can about batteries, navigation, engines etc. Sometimes these forums can be very opinionated too. The Hatt forum is my favorite. These people here are very smart. Most questions here are valuable questions, not just "what kinda boat should I buy".

Jeff,

Flashlights? Hmmm...never thought about flashlights. See you later, got some searching to do! :)

It's like watching TV, you can always switch from the sandbar to the tech talk

Yep, flashlights! :)

Here's what I'm looking at putting on Kismet to replace the tired/broken spotlight:

HI All,

WOW

What's the specs on this bad boy!

This one is a helo search/rescue searchlight. Output is 4,000 lumens & 80 million candlepower.

I'm also toying with picking up a AN/ASS-1 M60 tank searchlight. These have been around a long time and were workhorse machines. Output: 6,000 lumens and 100 million candlepower!
The challenge here is that they're incredibly heavy. The spot is about 250 pounds, plus another 150 for components. That said, it would be cool to refurb one of these and Awlgrip it to match the boat! What a conversation piece!!

Hey Tucker, Just when I was starting to lean Your way politically. . . .

What about power? How much would it take?

28 Volts and about 50 amps!
Since older aircraft and tanks were set up with the 28v systems, I'm guessing they could handle our boats 32 volts with little to no modification.

Obviously, it would draw down a bank pretty quickly!!

It occurred to me that it's been a while since we've had a good station wagon thread...

And to change topics once again...here are a few of my 'pocket' knives.
