I'm curious- Has your broker ever shown your boat? She sure is priced attractively. She should sell. I'm just wondering why she hasn't.

Thanks Eric. We're still hopeful on the opportunity you referred to me. I think our location here in the midwest is a big challenge. Costs a few bucks to take her to blue water but, boy, what a fun trip that would be!

from the pickss what a grate looking boat you shure have kept her clean ,,I can certainly respect your work,,tim

Greg, The point is: You're relying upon your listing broker to get the job done since your discount commission listing precludes outside selling broker co-op. If your guy isn't showing the boat, then what exactly is the point of this exercise? You would be better off advertising your (very aggressively priced) boat yourself as a FSBO. If you want to only pay half a commission, at least you could then pay it to a selling broker who actually brings the buyer.

At the risk of beating this same drum- At the current price, or even at $209K- even located in Ohio, your boat should be getting looked at and should be selling.

Appreciate your comments, Eric. We're getting plenty of activity, lookers, with and without brokers. We're getting where we need to be.

Discount brokers provide discount services. They also bring discount buyers to the table.

Would you do your job as well as you do now for half the pay?

Is this docked at Manhattan Harbor by chance?

Yep, Sure is!

Who is the brokerage house and why all the animosity towards using a broker from these posts. They (if a good broker a true rarity) should be able to sell a vessel far better than anyone else. Its a sellers job to make sure he is using a good broker. A lot of them do not do their jobs well. But the ones who do. Man are they nice to have! At any rate, I may have some interest in the vessel. Ill let you know soon!

Thanks, kindly, for your post. We welcome your interest!

Here comes the broker from Virginia, Florida, and wherever else. We've had this conversation...

Times must be tough when the brokers are circling around the boats for sale sections of forums like this looking for fresh meat.

I myself am in the industry, I joined this forum because I have been looking at 53 Hatts myself for a while now. In general I first joined this forum to learn as much as possible about these boats for my customers and then I started getting hooked in to toying with the idea of owning one myself.

Your 53 looks like a very nicely maintained example and I am willing to bet this spring you attract a buyer for what shes worth! I just have a hard time myself deciding between the MY and the ED!

C370, We're confident she'll sell. As I said in a prior post, I think our location, here, in the Midwest is a bit of a hurdle. Thanks for your comments!

Greg, I think our location is a distinct advantage. The world of buyers seem to think that our boats are all like new simply because we don't have salt water. You and I know that there are lots of beat up boats in a fresh water area, but, as long as we enjoy that distiction, it is a real advantage when selling a boat. We moved our 36C Hatteras from the Great Lakes to Miami 3 years ago. That was a lovely trip that any buyer would really enjoy. I will say that I have less trouble keeping our boat in, "like new condition", in Miami.:) than I did in Detroit.

Maynard, It's no secret that you have probably the nicest best maintained 36 C around. At least from what I have seen. While I can understand a GL boat getting beat up as with any other area, in general everything being equal, it seems to me that the freshwater boat would still be the better bet.

I'm kind of surprised about your last sentence however that you have "less" trouble keeping your boat in "like new condition" in Miami. Two distinct things come to mind....salt water and intense sun. What's your secret?

Walt

There are no bugs in Miami, and no industrial dirt. When I wash the boat the wash water is clean but salty. I polish it annually with Finesseit II. The major difference is we have more usable working days in Miami than in Detroit. No all day cloudy, drizzely days, no winter, and not too much wind. Miami is a much better environment for boat work. Hot in summer though. The only problem I have with sun so far is the stitching on the covers. We have a lovely lady that restitched all our stuff, made new curtains, covers for the forepeak matteresses, and a new cockpit cover. She was quite reasonable and the work was great. Lots of good and qualified boat workers in south Flofida also.:)

What Did Ang get a new Job?

The listing doesn't show engine hours?
