I have boated all my life, my Dad all his life, my Grandad all his life. Grandad had several large boats, last one was 53' Huckins. Dad also had several boats, last one 53' Hatteras MY. My wife and I are currently and actively in the market for a Hatteras CMY or MY, high 80's vintage, anywhere from 54' to 70'. I am leaning toward a 63' CMY. Years ago, I was in management in the boatyard & marina business. I am a licensed Master and I have extensive experience in running the family 53's back and forth from NY to Ft Lauderdale and elsewhere. However, I need current information on the Hatteras MY's we are considering. Various engine selection for fuel consumption, dependibility, etc. What section of this forum should I be starting in for this information?

You sound like a legacy, and you are at "one" of the correct forums for the info you seek. Dont touch the water to see if its cold, just JUMP RIGHT IN !
Theres a lot of good guys here with a myriad of opinions, so tender your judgements accordingly.
Where did you do yer boating as a YOOT? My family has been involved with large yachts and such on the great lakes area since about 1890. Gramps used to fish Bimini and Cuba with Hemingway and drink with him in Petoskey Michigan as well. Theres a million stories with this stuff, so dont be affraid to share moments as well as tech talk. ws
