  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
I admire and am jealous of some of the renovated helms I've seen here on the forum. I have a 1978 58 ft, Yachtfish with 8V71TIs that I am very happy with. I need to replace some of my gauges. Many years ago I put in Digital tachs from Aetna Engineering which I love. Has anyone replaced their other gauges at the helm with digital read outs that they are HAPPY WITH? At my advancing age, I thought they might be easier for me to read. I am due for 2 new or used GPS with good screens probably from Garmin. I would redo the helms when I get them. Thoughts and advice appreciated.

Look up an old post that I put on a year or so ago called show us your helm. You’ll find lots of upgrades that look fantastic.

We had the Aetna tachs and then went to the FlowScan tachs with fuel numbers on the lower part of the gauge.
Been happy for 18 years watching them.

I just left a newer intrepid with twin, 22" Garmin screens. All nav, sounder, star chart, ships and triple Varado data was in the many (many) screens. Another 7" smart crap display below them.
Finding a simple engine screen was a hunt.
Na, I still like the trusty analog gauges across my helm, then the fancy chart junk to the side.
