Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1983 - 1987)
At long last, the Wait is Over! Finally settled on her (a 1985 36SF)mid April then waited two long weeks for decent weather and made the maiden voyage this past weekend. I invited a few mates and drove her away from Rock Hall down to her new home in Edgewater MD with out a hitch or hit :o . She handle beautifully. Moving up from a 22' Walk Around, I must admit I was a bit white nuckled as I crossed the bay bridge in Annapolis w/o a chartplotter into a maze of sail boats during some kind of regatta and rockfish charter boats with planer boards. It was my first time operating a vessel over 30' but was loving every minute of it. I backed her in the slip like I had been doing it for years. Beginers luck maybe!

The next few weeks will be spent washing & detailing, a few minor mechanical things and hopefully getting some updated electronics.

Thanks to all who offered advise. I still have alot of learning to do as I go thru a suit case of Hatteras manuals and illustatations. So keep your eyes peeled for more to come. I will try tp post some pics soon.

I do have one question. Does the panel box, bilge pumps and battery charger automatically change over when I plug in I plug in to shore power?
Thanks Again
CJ

Congrats CJ,

I think there is a panel switch for shore power .

Congrats...Sounds like your new boat is the same as our '86 36C. What is the power? When you plug the shore power in and raise the two pole circuit breaker for ship's power, all 12 volt items remain the same. the charger does keep the batteries that feed that stuff charged so relax. Nothing except the refrigerator switches over. All 12 volt stuff is always just that and all 120 colt AC stuff is also just that. the only exception is the Norcold refer which really is 120 volt AC, but when that isn't available it runs from 12 volt DC. It does that with a built in invertor that changes your 12 vdc. to 120 vac. Does your new boat have a galley up or down? :o

Thanks Starman. I like the work that you are doing. I too am a carpenter by trade going on 22 years running a business up here in MD.

Maynard-Galley up with 454's. I think we have the same model. I think you will be getting alot of PM's from me in the future.

Congratulations and welcome aboard!

Sounds great. Ours is a galley down.

Congrats Lots of Luck. You will find it handles very well at the dock you won't get blown around like most of the Clorox boats out there :D
Will be waiting for pictures If you need help posting just ask.

Congrats...

The more you work on it, the more you'll appreciate you bought a HATT!!
