Hatteras Model
41' CONVERTBLE-Series I (1964 - 1971)
since the original (1968) died 7 years ago i am now putting in the fourth one. 2 home cheapo specials and one summit wich i thought was a quality unit, but only lasted 2yrs. 9 months. its a 24" wide appartment size any suggestions
thanks mark
p.s. the compressor quits

Ventilation. if you dont have enough its not fridges fault it will just burn up. The originals were smaller and when installed had a decent amount of cooling for the unit. The apartment fridges need to be given more air or they just cant cool. They were not made to run in a 100 degree environment.

the fridge has a large space behind it, and the summit had vents in the front below the door. but you still could be right the original had vents in the front that were fairly large this is why the door was able to swing over the step. the vents were much taller than the summit vents. i have removed the lower station wich is right above the fridge, i was in the process of closing in the opening when the summit died.i will install some vents and maybe a small fan as i close the opening.
thanks mark

One solution in that situation is to put in a muffin fan in the back ideally vents somewhere or ar worst just moves some more air around. This is simply the type of little cooling fan you find in computers, for instance.
