  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
My newest davit design, folding boom with sliding extensions. Additional photos follow in separate posts. The dinghy is a Highfield 340, aluminum hull and a mind boggling 7 foot beam!

Does it pivot out to pick up the dinghy or does it drag it across the swim step?

Now I see. You sent the last set of photos as I sent my first question. How much?

It depends on the spec. As much as I would like to sell these I want to honor the non-commercial aspect of the forum (at least somewhat). My web site is www.transomdavits.com

Congratulations Greg, I think you have a winner with that design. I would suggest that you give some sort of price range on your web site in order to entice prospective buyers (like me). I presently have a Caribe RIB with a glass window in the bottom to see fish etc and it is mounted on the sun deck of my 1982 Series 1 48 MY. It works OK but I'm not crazy about it up there as it interferes with my rear visibility and launching/retrieving as well as additional weight that high up. Your davit system seems to me to be much easier to use and the folding feature keeps it tidy. I will reach out to you on your web site sometime next week.

Indeed it does look good. It solves the issue of having to keep the transom off the dock to accommodate the davit. Now if it only acted like a transformer and assumed the positions with the push of a button on a key fob

Dan: That would certainly be doable but would probably double the cost. In reality, pulling 4 pins takes about 10 seconds (if you're slow). Maybe slightly longer to replace.

Walter; thanks for the kind words. I sent you a PM.

Several of my customers have upper deck davits but chose my davit for the reasons you have stated, especially the convenience factor. In less than a minute you're in the water, and less than a minute you are out and stowed away.
