  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Just installed a new AC at the helm station, yes, split system. The unit works so well, it really
dehumidifies the cabin...THUS, the problem ! The evaporate tray overflows, I took the hose off the
tray and blow it out....this clears it for a few days.....
SOOO the question is, does anybody know where this hose terminates in the eng room? There is
absolutely NO room in the cable gland to run a new hose....so, my thought is simply drill a hole the size of the hose, and run a complete new line...abandon the old one. I will try tracing the old hose
in the next few days.....so, any comments are welcome.
thanks,

My pilothouse, salon, and galley (up), run to a 3 line manifold in the port engine room, on the wall about even with the stabilizer compartment.

Run a snake through it then a bunch of bleach and water. If its clogging with algae that should clear it. If its full of debris or the hose is collapsing you will find out when you snake it

My 1974 53 my had similar problem - it drained out thru the sea chest in the port engine room
Perhaps blowing it out backwards once you identify which of the 4 or so lines is the evaporator line will solve the obstruction. My port engine also had a compressor hose that came in handy for this purpose. Hope this helps!

Your answer is probably in the earlier posts, but also check how the drain runs. I once had an issue with a line that was nearly horizontal but could sometimes develop an 'air lock' (for want of a better term) which would prevent draining. The solution was to put a Tee in the line and run a hose up to a level above the condensate drain pan. This relieved the intemittant blockage permanently.

this is probably overkill, but I used muratic acid to clean mine out.

Thanks to all....I blew it out from the top.....added a "T" and no problems since
