Douglas, interested?

Not too bad for the money.

Hi guys,

I hadn't been on the forum. I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks.

This 53' looks OK. Trouble for me is trying to bring it to the west coast. About a $40K to $60K job, before doing anything else that needs done on the boat.

I'm pretty much just setting my mind to finding one on the west coast. But, you never now if I find the right one I may do the trip.

Just think, if you didn't have kids, you could rename it "No Rugrats", and only have to change two letters in the name.

Douglas, did you see the 65 footer in Mexico for 65.000.00. Seems like a great price. It was used for charters so I would think it has a lot of hours on her. Nice thing about that one is no sales tax as long as you keep her in Mexico for 2 months.

Yes, I saw that one. It's close, I've sent an email asking for a copy of the last survey.
From the photos, it seems most of the upgrades were done in 1984, except for the 1970s TV and 8-Track player in the galley cabinets!

Some of those Mexico boats scare the heck out of me. You never know if they do repairs the right way, or if they just hacked the repairs.

I used to own a 1965 Vespa scooter and sidecar. It was imported from Italy. When it needed repairs, I was finding that the Italians would replaced a fuel hose with a clear house, probably used for aquariums or small water tanks. Also found that instead of stainless steel screws, they would just place bent nails in hard to reach places. Got everything done correctly, but it sure was a mess and a headache.

Any of you know of a reputable surveyor in Mexico? My thoughts is that I'll need to fly a surveyor in, adding to the survey cost, if the boat shows on paper to be a good buy.

As far as taxes, probably the Mexicans can back-track the contract/purchase date 2 months! ha, ha, ha!

Hello,
New member here to the forum. I purchased this Hatteras in March for my wife & I. I'll keep posting updates to her cosmetics (boats, not the wife!). Good name change on 'No Rugrats' by the way!

Douglas, there is a 58 yacht fish here in San Diego that the price was just lowered on. It is listed with a broker that I do a lot of surveys for. I am going to take a look at it next week I can give you a report if you are interested, just let me know,John

Douglas, looks like you have all kinds of owners looking for you. Hope this one works out for you. Close to home as well.
