Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Will be pulling it out to a fix a broken wire to the oven element this week end on my 43'. Is there any trick to pulling it that I need to know?

Please understand I dont really know what Im doing and this is not a direct answer to your question but the first thing I did after I bought my 1979 43' double cabin was to remove the stove. In my judgement it was cheaper and easier to take it out and replace it than fix the one burner that didnt work and clean the oven>

I dont remember all the steps but it seemed a simple matter of finding and removing the several screws that held it in place. and then just lifting it out> The elec hook up was a junction box behind the stove that is now the supply for my countertop stove top

I will replace it with a two burner induction stove top when I replace the counter with corian

for now its that counter top induction single burner and plywood instead of proper cabinet doors and that works fine for the couple of months a year we live aboard.

I'm going off of memory so don't hold me to it. I removed mine to have it repainted to match the refer. If memory serves me there are screws in the metal trim that hold it in place. Once the screws have been removed it can be rocked forward to reveal the hard wires. Hopefully this helps.

X2. I clearly remember installing mine 10- years ago. Now am I going up the stairs or down??

We had a short circuit in our 3 burner stove this Winter. I pulled the whole unit after disconnecting the wires behind it. This was quite simple due to the cabinet mounted terminal block behind the stove.

In hind sight, I *think* I could have done this without pulling the whole stove out by removing all of the burners, the fid held in by four bolts, etc. but having it out resting on canvas and plastic to protect the carpet made it much easier.

Besides, it gave me an opportunity to clean it all up and vacuum out the areas under it.

Ultimately the short was caused by a sharp edge at the back of the unit under the burner or top face where wires ran to the switches. A little tape and some other protection and we were good to go again.

Well I bought a 12 pack of beer... Took out the 4 screws, rocked the unit a bit and it came out.. Was only a one beer job. Found where the problem was on both the oven element and broiler element were, again a simple one beer job.. Made temp. repairs, but then ordered new elements for both. Got stove back in till new stuff arrives and had plenty of beer left over to sit on the aft deck and fish... "life is good" sometimes
