  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
has anyone had to replace their rotary cam switch that transfer electrical power from shore power to generator? Mine appears to be a Kraus & Naimer product and very difficult to find, even through Sam's.
Has anyone out there gone through this and located and alternate part or source for the originals?

I had the OEM rotary switch with "Off/Shore/Generator".

In 2006 I added an inverter and replaced that rotary switch with an "Off/Shore/Inverter/Generator" rotary switch.

I used a Salzer S432L-61080-02 rotary cam switch @ $205.00 (2006 price). I also had a new escutcheon plate made with the the new positions for $16.00 (2006 price).

The switch has performed flawlessly since it's install. Of course, I only rotate the rotary switch with no load on the system (master turned off). I was told that would save the contacts on the rotary switch.

Thanks, this is the second mention of Salzer as a possible replacement. I really appreciate the response and will carry the Salzer catelog to the boat to see which switch might match my application and the installation criteria.

Two good places to consult, who sell (as well as install if needed) a variety of this stuff and would be familiar with the issue, would be first and foremost Ward's Marine Electric in Ft. Lauderdale (they sell Salzer as well as K&N among others, and Peter Kennedy Yacht services in Annapolis.

George,
That was ecactly what I needed. I just got off the phone with the technical desk at Ward's Marine Electric, and they were extremely helpful. They have a great on line parts list and they have the switches in stock and gave me some specific trouble shooting steps to nail this problem down. I plan to use those steps this weekend and if necessary order the appropriate switch Monday.
When I get this one solved I'll share the outcome.
