I'd just get a new pump.

They still sell autopilot pumps.

Yes, that would be the easy solution. Is any thing serviceable any more? You are in the business, on your personal boat, I am sure just buying a new pump would not be the answer. Any one can shell out $ for a new pump. Looking for quality replacement or one for parts. Thanks

Time has value. Reliability has value. Loosing steering is not a good thing. Some things are just not worth the trouble to repair especially when parts are not available.

A new pump makes sense if you can't fix the old one. Especially when safety is involved.
