I am looking for a good used assembly if possible, I believe mine has a crack allowing exhaust pressure to enter coolant tank. Please let me know. Thanks for the help.
 
did you check the head gasket / head ass'y??????
 
Thanks for the replies everyone, I attached a photo I had. I will be down the boat next weekend and get a better one. I need the coolant, exhaust manifold, heat exchanger Assembely. Part in the top of the photo. Also anyone have a source for the gaskets? It is horrible that Cummings does not support anything. They tell you I can give you a price on new unit. I will never purchase a new onan.

I have the same vintage genny on my boat and was wondering how many hours are on your ONAN?

(In other words, when can I expect a similar issue?)

The boat originally has a Kohler and the previous owner replaced it with the onan. They left the Kohler hour meter. So not sure.
 
Fellow viking here 😊 Well at least I'm Norwegian... I am in the same situation, needing a new heat exchanger for my Onan mdl4. I saw you had the spare parts list, Viking. Is it possible for you to pm me this picture in perhaps better resolution? Do you know where I can get my hands on one?Thanks Kristian
