Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Am doing a delivery of one this month... She's in great shape and the owner has kept up with the routine and any repairs.
I visited the boat yesterday for about an hour to make sure it was as good as I was told... She is, but here's my questions. How big are the two fuel tanks (marked port and starboard)? How big is the fresh water tank?
Will be taking her from Jacksonville to Sarasota thru Lake O.......
Will have more questions once everything is taken care and it's a certain "GO"......

Charlie,
Call me if you have questions. I've owned mine for 12 years. Send me a PM and I'll get you my phone number.

The fuel tanks are fwd and aft, not port and stbd. They are roughly 350 gallons each.

Water tank is 287 gal.

I THOUGHT they were that way.. But her gauges are tagged port and starboard as are the fuel shut off valves..... !!!!
I'll be visiting the boat again either this weekend or next.. Know where she has the Hatteras book with the blueprints in it... But two tanks are two tanks...

Maybe they marked them port and stbd because they run the port or stbd engine off of that particular tank. The mechanical gauges are in the hallway. The hatch in front of the door to the staterooms is the front tank and the one right behind the door for the aft tank.

my 1984 53MY is exactly as SKY describes it. The generator operates off my front tank with no option to switch it aft.

I'll be going back down to see the boat this Sunday... But the port and starboard on the gauges sure do make sense for which motor is feed by which tank.. Did notice the port tank had less fuel than the starboard tank.. And if the gennie runs off the port tank, it all makes sense... My first visit was just a 'quicky" to make sure the boat was what she said... and I didn't charge her or stay long. This visit will be a lot more intense and fact finding... I gave her a punch list, she already has repairs scheduled for them... The fact both engine temp gauges show 185 is of concern.. but again, she has that on the list for repairs.... Will update you Sunday evening on what I find..

Charlie... I have a 1988 53ED....last one built. You have 700 gals fuel and 300 water. Tanks are forward and aft. Genset draws from the forward. Have a good trip.
Ted
