Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1969 -1977)
Hoping for some help on ID'ing this craigslist boat- 25 footer with an 8'3 beam. I might drive to take a look at it, meanwhile the seller is trying to find the title and says its a searay(?), but I can't find any 70's-80's searay like this.

I think it’s a Stamas

Definitely not a Sea Ray. Have him give you a HIN.

The sellers was half right. It's a Sea Star, probably late '70s 27ft. Google it.

Yep, thats it. Thanks Eric! I spent a while searching last night and found a Scottie-craft. Has the identical stern profile but different windshield and top- maybe same mold but this one is definitely a Sea Star. Anyway I'm going to look at it for a project but might run away once I see it in person.

I/O power would kill it for me.

Hey Chad
Why would you even bother LOOKING at something like this? Is there a 'Sea Star Owners Club' you can turn to for restoration tips? I could see it if you were restoring an old Chris Craft 27 Commander or maybe even an early 25 Bertram, you could justify one of those as a project worth doing. Both of those models were "cool". Not This!

Good Eyes Sea Eric. I had no idea what this was.

I am a wealth of mostly useless information.

Speaking from experience, restoration costs aren’t much different between the less desirable things and the more desirable. Take it from someone who’s just spend $75k restoration a V12 E-type coupe when restoring an earlier model would have cost the same and resulted in a car twice as valuable. Same with boats... $250k to date on an early 53 when restoring and upgrading a later wider beam hatteras would have cost the same and resulted in higher value. In both cases I had own then for a long time and letting go wasnt an option

So... in this case don’t but an old boat with questionable pedigree...
