  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' MOTOR YACHT (1984 - 1987)
Went to the Hattini this morning and someone has stolen  the shore power cord. I'm looking for advice on where to buy one, any brands to avoid, what to look for in a replacement, what price to expect etc.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Depending on the copper inside, keeping the outside clean is going to determine how it lasts. I started using Mop-N-Glo to coat a clean power cord and it works.

Marinco was worked great for me. I've found Craigslist a good spot for really good pricing. 50'125/250 for around 250.00 to 400.00. That's about 1/2 price of West Marine.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I ended up going with a 50' 50 amp from High Tide.... I have seen a hand full of good reviews between this forum and another and no bad.

You may also want to invest in a motion activated camera to put on your dock as long as you plan to continue to provide the thief more shore power cables. Then at the least, you can find the person responsible and invite them for coffee and "chat" about his latest shore power cable selection. Unbelievable!

Wow, that is a great story kjcampos. Would you mind sharing what kind of cameras and where they were mounted, and what is the storage mechanism for the recordings? Sounds like a very good investment...

hi Nautibake ...im not a tech guru my friend is the expert it was his idea and boy am i GLAD i did....the system is a ALIBI system and 4 cameras 1 on the bow under the overhang in front of the windows 1 each over the doors that go from the side decks to the Aft Deck and 1 on the stern where you put the tender looking down ....all my cameras have night vision so i can see everything they all glow red at night which is a warning to keep out....my system has enough memory to record for 6 months and they are always recording ...the system will tell you when you go to the memory when it recorded an issue so you can just look at that instead of having to rewind to look at the whole recording i can go back to any day in the last 6 months....im glad i have it its already paid for itself....

Thanks kjcampos, sounds like a very effective system with some serious storage! I'll be looking into something similar, would like to add the ER's too.
