Hatteras Model
54' EXTENDED DECKHOUSE (1989 - 1992)
I commissioned the boat this week and surprise, my Inverter/ charger seems to have given up. I have a Xantrex ProSine 3.0 3000 watt inverter charger for the past 15 or so years. Question: Does anyone have any familiarity with the Xantrex Freedom XC ProMarine 3000 or the Freedom SW 3024. I have a 24 volt system
Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

In follow up to my post regarding a charger / inverter, My tech is suggesting Victron as his supplier no longer carries Xantrex due to quality issues... any thoughts on that???

Xantrex went downhill when production moved to china years ago.

EDIT: MAGNUM are really good. I installed one on 70 footer I ram although that was about 15 years ago so quality could have changed. I wonder if they are still made in the US

Freedom is a xantrax product. Last one I sold I got $.81 a pound.

Yes I recycled it.

from what i understand xantrex makes freedom so they must be junk also...to the original poster, if you want a system designed for your needs and your boat, i highly reccomend getting in touch with scott on this forum (boatsb) is his user name. he designs and installs this type of thing all of the time.

Xantrex is garbage. Avoid.

Victron, 100%
Reported by a Outback User:)

Edited. I meant MAGNUM inverters. Pre coffee post can be tricky :)

I got a deal on a big 230Vac Magnum. Also picked up their gen-set controller, battery monitor and large display. Very happy with this equipment. I used to sell and install MasterVolt and Victron equipment that I found to be great stuff also.

15 year old equipment. This may have been the last of the good stuff.
15 years is a good service life of most everything now.

I originally planned to install Magnum, but after extensive research - went with Victron and never looked back. Great quality and excellent integration with alternators, all batteries (including LifePo4 etc), solar, and just about anything "Power" related.

Speak with Scott (boatsb) and he'll enlighten you on the subject....

We love our Victron system. 3000watts inverter/charger + smart shunt + touch screen display. All this tied with solar panel MPPT controlers. The touch screen shows you everything that's happening. Sturdy build. Fairly good instructions.

Thank you for all of your great comments. It looks like Victron might be the winner. I am probably going with the PMP 243021102, Multi Plus 24V/3000VA - 3KVA

Hope to have it installed on May 30. Will let you know.. We will get the BMV 712 Smart Battery Monitor

Your going to luv that Victron battery monitor. It talks to your cell phone.
I was installing them on golf carts for a while.
Victron is good stuff.

You will want to add a cerbo and screen. Plus program it correctly.

I have personally worked with Scott, Boatsb on the forum, installing a very large Victron system. I was originally thinking about buying the components from the cheapest place and installing my self. I am glad that i did not. Do yourself a favor get in touch with Scott on this forum and purchase from someone that will be able to give you service and is only a phone call or text away. By the way i absolutely love my Victron System. If you would like to chat about my experience, just shoot me a message. Andy

Thanks Andy. I appreciate the plug.

For those who don't know I am not only a dealer installer but also a distributor who sells to dealers and I offer design and programming to boot. Victron for example has a published stocking dealer price that I and most other distributors adhere too so if your local guy needs product and support I'm your man.

FWIW I believe I usually have a larger battery inventory than most of the other distributors and have been working on larger systems for years. 16 or more batteries don't scare me on a single system.
