Hatteras Model
43' MOTOR YACHT (1984 - 1987)
My boat came with very light-duty dinghy tip-up brackets on the swim platform. Using them is a pita for a variety of reasons. After a bunch of online research, the Nautley DinghyRamp XL system seems like the best solution for my needs. Does anybody here have experience with this type of system? (Hurley makes something similar).

I, too have been looking at this product so anyone out there that has had some practical experience with these would be appreciated.

I helped a friend install one on a mainship 40 swim platform. His dingy is about 11 feet with a 20 hp motor hard bottom inflatable, pretty heavy. It did not work well at all for him. He has now added a block and tackle system and a jack pole set up with guy lines to make it work. Lots of trial and error. The problem with it was that the rollers are not big enough and the Chines on the bottom of the fiberglass bottom would hang up when trying to pull it up the rollers. PM me if you have any other questions. John

Thanks for the feedback. Your friend's rig must have weighed well over 200#, hard to "snatch" up on the ramp. I've chosen the 9' AB Lammina ultralight, 64#, about 100 total with motor. Hopefully I've got a few years left of being able to singlehand it up onto the ramp.

That dingy would definitely work better. You could manhandle that up without needing a block and tackle system.

From the description of that tender: 11 feet hard bottom and a 20 HP outboard? More like 400 lbs. No wonder he needed additional leverage but that being said the DinghyRamp people claim the XL model is good for up to 500 lbs (250 per arm) so thanks for that feedback.
