Need some help with this. I know it is a transformer of some type, but what is it for. I found it attached to a plug under the pilot house helm. There were no wires attached, but it is warm to the touch. Only thing I can think of i s it may have something to do with the non functioning onboarding telecoms.

Looks like a small transformer

It is definitely a transformer that is converting 110VAC to some other AC voltage. Could have maybe a small lighting transformer? The sticker says fused output, but as you can see, there is no fuse attached to that transformer. There may be another label or nameplate with the step down voltage and wattage on it.

Other uses for that transformer could have been a Phone system, though it looks a little small for that. Or an alarm system? Either way, leave it unplugged.

What happens when someone tries to ring your door bell?

Put a multimeter on it and get a voltage. Label and save for next project.

I did store it, but did not think about voltage, thanks.

maybe for dimming the instruments lights and compass light??????

Those are dimmed by a Newmar unit. That is a 120v transformer similar to a doorbell transformer as others have stated. Its not for instrument lights.

I believe that transformer is used for the speaker system on some of the older Hatteras say from 1970,s through the late 80,s. Not sure though.

Typically those speaker systems were 70 vac.
