  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
48' YACHT FISHERMAN (1972 - 1975)
Hi All,

Glittering Image has been sold. It's been an incredibly emotional few weeks for me, but I am buoyed by the fact that I believe she is going to a loving home, a family with kids and two dogs. A couple that will use and enjoy her, a couple that has a passion for the boat, a couple that will take the baton and take up the mantel of her new caretakers.

Please welcome Scott and Kathy Gibson to the forum. Their forum ID is Smitten.

Please extend to them all of the help, support, advice and courtesies you've extended to me in my almost 9 years on the forum.

Like many of us when we started they are new to classic hatteras yachts and i've encouraged them to not be shy about asking any question no matter how simple it may sound. With their prior boating experience and your help, i'm sure they will be mindful caretakers and enjoy her for many years to come.

Gene

Hi All,

I had some professional photos taken of her last weekend as a momento. Here are the interior shots, exterior to follow.

Congratulations. Very nice pics.

Wow! I don't know how you part with something like that. It has to be like losing a family member. But at least her new custodians will carry on the legacy. Best of luck in your new ventures, I know you're going to stick around and share them with us. And to the new crew of Smitten: Welcome aboard.

It appears to really be a "Glitering" Image. Best of luck to both the past, Lumina, and current, Smitten, caregivers of Glittering Image.

And welcome!

JM

Gene,
Thanks for the post. Excellent photos of a beautiful boat on a thread which goes beyond simply a classic yacht and is reflective of a classic family and boating relationship which will continue.

My condolences. Whoever said the best day in a boaters life was the day he sold it never owned a Hatteras.

Truer words have never been spoken. :( Hatteras should use it in there advertising. LOL

My wife loves the blue furniture in the salon. Where was it purchased?

Hi all,

Bob, you won't believe me when I tell you........

One of my initial pet peeves when we bought the boat was weight. There was SO much stuff on board and most of it weighed a ton.

After stripping the boat of pretty much everything,,,useful things came back aboard, but I set out on a quest for lightweight, attractive, comfortable, affordable furniture. It was like searching for the holy grail.

Finally I found a company that promised all of the above, so I took a chance and ordered a sofa.

I came home one day to find an appximatly 3' x 2' box on my doorstep. Confused I cracked the box open and pulled out the paperwork. I brought it to the boat and as instructed took it out of the box and removed the tight plastic packaging.

To my amazement, this ball of blue began to grow and over two days transformed into a complete full size sofa that was super comfortable, weighted about 25 pounds, and looked great. I immediately ordered two love seats, a chair and an outtoma. Loved them ever sense. Extremely durable. I did build 5 inch bases for them for just a little bit of added height.

Company is , http://foamiture.com, check it out.
