Motor Mount Shims

So I hired a local mechanic to do an alignment for me on my 8-71s. He shimmed all 4 front mounts with pieces of synthetic deckboard... Is that stuff dense enough to not compress? I don't like it. I'm just asking for opinions before I jump the gun.

I'm not sure I'd be ok with that. It may be ok on lighter engines but for the super heavy detroits I'd probably want metal shims.

I guess my next question would be why the need for shims, were you that far out of alignment?

Likely you have the Ace motor mounts as I do. Mine appear OEM, but they were properly installed and don't move. Hatteras used the right stuff in this department.
