  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
A few photos from my "beta" model. Although originally conceived for aft cabin boats, this was on a Mainship 40 sedan. A few challenges primarily due to a lack of material (strength) in the transom. The good news is that it worked beautifully, the customer is very happy, and best of all I got an order for another davit. This time for a Marine Trader 43 aft cabin. Also, the dingy will be a Whaler, the first non-inflatable.IMG_0618-1.webpIMG_0629.webpIMG_0632-1.webp

nice work. Looks a lot like a Nick Jackson davit.

You will be happier with the extra purchase in the lines. It will take quite a bit of the load off the winch thus making it easier to lift. I'd like to add that to ours!

Any details on pully part numbers etc. would be appreciated.

Sky- Thanks for posting. It looks like they make some nice stuff and cool name as well. I like the aesthetics of the radiating booms, although I doubt that it buys you much. I'm a big believer in STL (spreading the load) and I personally would not be comfortable with the small attachment footprints, although it apparently works for them.
I had planned on adding adjustable boom extensions on the next one. It gives you a lot more leeway in the setup.

Have a great weekend all!

I just finished an install of a Nick Jackson Davit on my 43DC. Very happy with the results.

That is a nice looking set up Kevin. Would you mind sharing the purchase and installation cost?

Everything including the incidentals I needed to purchase locally was a little over $5K (not including the dinghy). Largest local cost was copper wire and the breaker for 80 Amp service to the transom. This is a 500# unit but I suspect it will handle a larger load. My dinghy with motor, fuel, and some rain water is under 200#. I don't see a weak link anywhere. Installation labor was free if you count my time as free. I probably spent more time figuring out the dimensions I needed and making sure I was confident I could through bolt and back up everything and engineering wire routing than actually installing. He made it to my custom dimensions so the pull point on the winch would be below the portlight and the transom running light would still be visible.

The single biggest improvement to our davit was a keyfob remote winch controller. When the owner had it installed, they put the wired outlet UNDER the freaking dink! So, once it was up, you had to crawl along the platform under the dink to remove the controller. A genuine PITA and I cannot believe they really did it this way.
For about a hundred bucks you can use a key fob to raise and lower it as long as it is a 12v system.
