  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
67' COCKPIT MY (1987 - 1995)
Hello fellow Hatteras owners,Has anyone had issues with monitoring system? My monitoring system on my 1988 67’ CPMY is trying to intermittently go off and sound an alarm. I say trying because the alarm is a low volume and broken up. It’s not a solid, loud tone like it should be. It will sound off for 2-3 seconds then stop. It may be seconds to hours before it does it again. When the weak alarm sound happens there are no lights lighting up on the display. Therefore I cannot easily determine which system is causing the alarm. Because the monitoring system seems to work normally when the test button is pushed or when I turn the engine keys on, I know the lights and alarm are generally in working order. My questions are as follows:1. Has anybody had this or similar problem?2. Where is the monitoring system box with all the signals coming into it located?3. Anyone have an actual wiring diagram for the monitoring system? A. I have the system description and component description from the manual. That unfortunately does not show how the devices are wired together.

Sadly, Hatterass can not offer a lot of support on these systems. I have worked with them and received just some diagrams and board lay outs.
The factory prints to help some if you can follow their flow diagrams.

There is a shop that may offer some support on these things;

A pic of the controller board and panel will help identify the system you have.

I had this issue. I believe it is a weak transistor of some sort on the board. They are also notorious for having solder lines crack and intermittently make or break contact. Years ago I had my board rebuilt by Flight Systems. I still have it and its for sale as I replaced that system during my repower.

Since this system works by having normally closed circuits, any break in a wire will trigger an alarm. Which also means any worn wire or bad/corroded connection which affects the resistance could also trigger an alarm or "partial alarm". SO the problem could be anywhere in the system.
