model engine

My dad bought me a similar working model of slant-six when I was about 10 year old. He explained a few things as I went, but he insisted that I do the assembly. What I learned about how engines work has been invaluable. I recall that at the time there was another model available - the Visible V8.

Thanks for the reminder of those times.

My son built one just like that a few years ago.

I bought that for my son and wound up building it myself.

When I was a kid i built the Visible Rotary Engine model and the Visible chassis. Chassis was a big thing and had evertying but the engine which was another kit, visible v8. none of these are produced anymore.

The Visible V8 by Revell is still available, saw one the other day at Hobby Lobby. I'm still looking for the Visible 12V71TI so I can learn all about my boat motors. :)

Google the visible chassis, rotary engine and v8 and ebay has original kits for sale, big$$ though for the original kits. Visible chassis was way cool , Brakes actually worked. Hydraulic using cooking oil. Clutch worked and you could shift gears and see them in the transparent transmission. Rear end was basic one wheel drive. Steering system was functional etc. The v8 hook to it would have been cool, optional and kits did interchange. It was not Revell , another brand.
