Mobil Del Vac versus Rotella

For years I have been using the Detroit Diesel Power Guard 40w oil which I understand is Mobil Del Vac oil. Since Atlantic Diesel moved off the island, it difficult to get that oil and as well seems to be difficult to find Mobil Del Vac 40w.

Since shell Rotella 40w is readily available and it as well is rated CF2 are there any other differences that I should be concerned about with Rotella versus Mobil Del vac. Or are there other options?

Search the forums for detroit 2 stroke oils.

The Delvac is the superior oil to the Rotella. I would not use Rotella expect in a pinch.

I don't understand the problem with the difficulty purchasing oil. It's not like an oil change is an unannounced event. I have never heard that oil has a shelf life, if it does please bring me up to date. Why not order it ahead of time before it becomes a crisis?
