Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1969 -1977)
Does anyone know where to get cockpit bolsters made up for a Grady-White with a few years on her? Model is a 232, I htink. A friend had his boat hauled and wrapped and in the spring, the bolsters were gone... no one at the storage company knew anything about it. of course.

What's a cockpit bolster?

The Grady-White that he has featured two padded sections along the inside of the aft part of the cockpit- I think the construction is an upholstered panel which attaches to brackets mounted to the FRP just inside the coaming. I suspect they are there for people to lean against while fishing. Someone stole them while the boat was winterized and wrapped up, and the company which did the winterizing and storage is saying they had nothing to do with it. This qualifies them as pond scum IMHO. Anyway, my friend is trying to figure out where to get new ones. The boat is not new and he is worried that GW won't have them available anymore.

My coaming pads are worn and need to replace them. I am thinking of going with the sea deck ones. I have seen them on boats in the keys. They are thinner but more dense. I may try on the tuna tower first and see how they work

$105 for a set...that's not bad for a bastard theif recovery.

There's some outfits that sell overstock/outdated parts from boat manufacturers on Ebay. Or ask GW who made the bolster for them and they may still have the patterns to make new ones. Yes, Seadeck is now very popular for bolsters too.
