Michigan Wheel into Bankruptcy...

Sorry to say that the old line prop mfgr Michigan Wheel has entered bankruptcy in June-July 09 timeframe. There have been extensive articles in the Grand Rapids Press (MI) regarding their situation. Standard too much debt, too little revenue.

If you ever tried to buy a Michigan wheel you would see why they are going belly up. I purchased new wheels but it sure was not from Michigan wheel. They were 4 times the price I paid and mine were not cheap.

I purchased my wheels from Wolverine Props in Detroit. I got 26X24. I think they were the German made wheels. I paid around $4,600. for the pair. Great looking wheels. I have not put them back on the boat yet. I had them on and was transferring the boat to a new dock in the spring and hit a tree floating under the water in the river. It was at night and the tree was not visible. Only one was damaged.$300. buck repair. Been to busy to put them back on. Maybe this week.

I've used Ron at Wolverine before as well. He may not be the cheapest, but I think you get good work and he'll stand behind it.

Yep Ron does a great job. He has fitted props for my last 5 boats. He saved my butt when I hit a log 2 days before leaving for a vacation cruise. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. I talked a Buddy into using him and he could not believe how smooth his boat ran.
