Miami Boat Show Parking Refund

Okay, I am not making a comeback, this is a public service announcement which I thought would be beneficial to anyone who has or will park at the Omni Parking Garage at Sea Isle.

The Miami Herald had printed in error the daily rate would be $10. I argued about the $35 fee having parked there yesterday. I was informed the Miami Herald would reimburse anyone who submitted a paid receipt based on their misinformation. I am not sure of how to do this yet, but I can only assume they have a website which will give their mailing address.

On a lighter note, I truly enjoyed meeting Doug Langley yesterday. We spent quite some time together, and I am truly glad we finally met in person. To that end, his personal cell phone number may be found in every public restroom with a 3 mile radius of the show. Yes, he can show you a good time and a make you a good deal on some really neat Hatteras stuff!

$35.00 for parking. Ouch my but hurts from that. Makes Vegas and Orlando look cheap. That is piracy. I bet if it were not for the convention lots of things would be more reasonable. Gotta love price gouging.

Welcome to South Florida. I remember Miami 30 years ago when they litterally rolled up the sidewalks at dark. Now everyone is trying to pay for a Ferrari, so guess where prices went? Like everywhere else, it is great until everyone moves there.

I have about 15 years until Social Security age, hopefully the baby boomers will be gone by then. I think I will go into the retirement home business, because that is where their spoiled and ungrateful children will put them so they can get their hands on the money. LOL

'Bout five years ago I was down in SE Florida when the Miami Show came into town. We were there for other reasons - not the show.

I thought I'd come over there for one day, to check it out. Couldn't find a place to park for less than $30. Said "screw this" and bagged it right there. I knew what awaited me inside, and there was no way it was worth $30 to park my car - knowing that I'd be into it for $100 or more before I got through the afternoon.

It sounds like the Miami Boat Show is much more expensive than just going to the Miami Beach Brokerage Show. On Miami Beach, the parking is only $4 and the show is free. In Miami proper, it costs $35 to park and $16 each for the show. Just forget about the convention center and go to the brokerage show.

I hate to be the messenger of bad (good) news but I parked at the brokerage show for 5 bucks and took the free shuttle to all of the venues.

We stayed at the Bayside Marriott and were charged just the "normal" $17 per to park, although the garage charged visitors a flat $35, just like the Omni across the street. It was $20 last year. I don't have anything against captialism, and I don't mind paying a premium for a choice spot, but I'm sure it was a sticker shock for someone expecting to paying only $10. BTW, it was still only $10 at the AA Arena down the street. Great show - we'll be back next year.

We parked at the brokerage show for 4 bucks for all day. Free shuttle bus to the convention center. So, do I have to send in my receipt so I can pay $6 more to make it up to $10?
