MH20 can you change a left to a right

My question is with the gearing the same for forward and reverse can you just a run a Left in reverse for forward and forward for reverse? Or how do you convert a left to right? Is the only difference the hydraulic valve shifter?

My understanding on the Allison's, from looking at how they're built, is NO.

I've been told they run the same in either direction but they are built with left or right configuration. Call Acadian marine and see what they say and what if anything you can do to reverse direction.
