I'd like to see you run them up to 1800 in reverse and check the pressures.

The "lore" on these gears is they are capable of a full power rpm direction change.. I'll leave that to others to validate. I was glad to see the low number neutral pressure.. I was worried something might be up with mine.

Three years ago I was in San Diego Bay at 2200 RPMs when a jet skier who was jumping my wake crossed in front of the yacht and subsequently fell off his jet ski 30 feet ahead of me. I can attest these gears can take a full reverse at that RPM. The cavitation of the props felt like hell but the transmission did it's job and the jet skier lived to see another day.

So much for natural selection.

I was crossing the Straits of Mackinaw in my 43'DCFB, with old 6-71N's at full cruise (12.7kts), when a runabout came up on my stern and proceeded to cut right under my bow. I did not hit the trannies, but went to full idle, which was still a strain. These are original TD's MG's with 2,200 hrs on a 1972 boat. They still run at 290#'s, which I hope is ok.
